Texas AgriLife Extension Service coordinates a 5K Run for Hunger in Dayton, TX. Proceeds will benefit the new charitable organization, Dayton Community Food Pantry, open now to serve hungry families in the Dayton zip code of 77535! The Pantry is located at 602 Hwy 90 East, in Dayton, TX. Hours of operation are Monday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and every second Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The run/walk was a great success in 2012 and the next 5K is planned for April 27th, 2013. The 5K Run for Hunger will be held at the Dayton Community Center located at 801 S. Cleveland Street, Dayton, TX. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m and the kick off will be 8:00 a.m.
Registration forms can be downloaded at the link below along with the Sponsorship form, if you would like to secure sponsor donations. The participant with the most sponsorship donations will receive recognition and a gift certificate!

Project LIFE Parenting Classes 
Project LIFE, which is a six week course that teaches parents basic life skills that help them improve skills needed to become better parents.
Each session lasts for two hours and meets weekly for a six week period. There is a fee of $60.00 for the course and participants can register at Liberty County Extension Office, located at 501 Palmer, Liberty, TX. The course is open to anyone seeking parenting classes. The course is
recognized by the local court system. Payment arrangements can be made prior to course start date. Reservations are required; spaces are limited!

Youth Tobacco Classes Offered for Teens who need help!
The Texas youth Tobacco Awareness Program (TYTAP) is an 8 hour class. Minors who are ticketed for purchasing or possessing tobacco products must attend a tobacco awareness program. Failure to attend the tobacco awareness program may result in a suspension of the Minor’s driver’s license. A parent or legal guardian must be present at time of registration. 4 Classes will be offered every other month. The first class will begin at 5:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:00 p.m. and the other 3 classes will begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:00 p.m. Please call (936) 334-3230 to reserve a seat. The trainer will make further arrangements to complete the registration process. Cost is $75.00 (Cash or Money Order Only)
