Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, The Texas A&M University System. The Liberty County Extension Service offers practical information for families like nutrition, health and wellness, food safety, family life, consumer education, financial stability, chronic disease education and prevention, safety and injury prevention, housing and emergency management.
Food Handler’s Certification Course
The 2 hour certification course is available for any individual, food service employee, cottage food business owner, student, or food manager who needs to renew or obtain the 2 year Food Handler’s Certification. The course is offered at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office located at 501 Palmer Ave. in Liberty, TX 77575. The 2 hour course is $20. Cooking Up a Cottage Food Business
Looking for your own business opportunity? Starting a Cottage Food Business can be easy! During this class participants can learn how to establish a new personal business, tips to maintaining a successful business, the Texas Cottage Food Laws, learn what food items can be produced from home and where those items can be sold and how to avoid potentially hazardous food items. The 3 hour course is $10 and participants may inquire about the class schedule and registration by contacting Alexis Cordova at (936)334-3230.
